From sLOVEnija with lions and gazelles!

Morning was hard for most of us because of National Evening after-party. It was not that we drank and danced a lot ;) but stayed up discussing topics from national anthems to sports events and from language barriers to cultural differences. It was surprising to find out that young locals mix red wine with Coca-Cola and white wine with Sprite or mineral water. And Slovenians always have energy to go to a party. But this was yesterday…

Today´s topic in general is movement and development. Even though majority of summer school students probably wanted to stay in bed for at least three more hours, we got up and went to a lecture. The first thought our professor brought out was an African story about a gazelle and a lion, who both get up in the morning and right away have to start running for their life. Lion will starve if he cannot catch at least the slowest gazelle and gazelle will end up in lion´s stomach if he doesn´t run fast enough.

Looking at hotels, restaurants and shops in Portorož, the workers there are constantly running to satisfy their client´s needs. Tourists run to the promenade to get the comfortable place on seaside to get as much tan as possible and we are running because there are so many things and tasks we need to fit into one day. It feels like being here we have run over the mountain into whole new level of managing our time and instead of 24/7 it is 34/7. To be honest it has taken quite much energy and after lunch we all just lied down and most of us had a little powernap instead of regular refreshing swim in the sea. Even if we want to run all the time in order to be successful and feel that we should be moving towards the top all the time, once in a while there should be half an hour to afford a little powernap.

Every day we get to know more and more about Slovenian culture, explorer Portorož, enrich our academic knowledge and we always try to do our best.

Special update: from sLOVEnija with thunder and ice-cream

On our way back from Lucia we had ice-cream in Cacao (Portorož´s ice-cream heaven). It was drizzling warm rain when all of the sudden it started thundering. Beautiful and scary at the same time.
