The place to meet

Hello everyone, Now it’s time for the first post of the Dutchies. You might wonder now who is writing here. Well we are Gerrit, Sina, Sabina, Amanda, and Kia from the beautiful country where we all know windmills , wooden shoes and tulips from.

After our journey through four different countries and surviving a travel-duration of 12 hours we finally arrived to salty Slovenia, which was our first impression while doing research. The first day basically gave a nice overview of what to expect of the following two weeks. This included tasting the “culinary sin” salty chocolate and finding an Icelandic speaking twin being left-handed and doesn’t have siblings. Okay, lets move on to the serious parts. First we would like to give thanks to the nice welcoming and organization of the Turistica-Team. After an interesting introduction about the region we had the chance to get to know the other participants. The highlight of the day was the visit to Piran, enjoying the nice weather and outstanding views and atmosphere. Some people took a refreshing bath, while others took pleasure from some regional drinks (guess what it was, you will get the answer tomorrow ;-)). However, this was also the reason how we came up with the motto of the day: Portoroz, the place to meet!

Our daily reporter Gerrit will keep all of you updated on our adventures while we are in Slovenia, so please also check out our video blog. This will more or less show the outtakes and funny experiences they do NOT tell you about while visiting the travel agency. For today the biggest surprise was that we were actually not that wrong with our first impression and actually salt seems to play and important role for the Slovenian´s. Therefore we are all looking forward to tomorrow’s trip to the salt pans. For now this was it, as we are willing to extend our adventures for today and join the others to a famous café for ice cream. So be excited on what we will report tomorrow and “tot morgen”!
